  • Volunteer Coordinator


    Location: Hybrid – remote and in-person at Speke Training and Education Centre, Unit House, Speke Boulevard, Liverpool, L24 9HZ


    Hours: Approximately 2-5 hours per week

    Role Overview:
    We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, manage, and support volunteers and university placements. A key part of the role is to oversee the recruitment process, provide full inductions and training, and ensure volunteers are engaged and valued within the station. The role includes ongoing volunteer promotion and collaboration with our marketing team to highlight volunteer contributions and attract new participants.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Recruit, induct, and train volunteers for various station roles

    • Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers

    • Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional content highlighting volunteer contributions

    • Track and report on volunteer outcomes

    • Build effective relationships with station staff, volunteers, and external partners

    • Champion the positive impact of volunteers and community engagement

    • Schedule and facilitate training sessions based on the station’s needs

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Strong communication skills – inclusive, welcoming, and motivational

    • Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or a related field

    • Organisational skills with attention to detail

    • Basic computer proficiency, particularly with Google Workspace apps

    • Ability to track and report on volunteer activities and impact

  • Volunteer Marketing Assistant


    Location: Primarily remote, with some in-person meetings and events


    Hours: Flexible, approx. 2-6 hours per week

    We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Volunteer Marketing Assistant to help promote our station and its initiatives. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop marketing skills, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Create eye-catching promotional images for social media and print using Canva

    • Edit photos for marketing and promotional use

    • Write compelling ad copy to engage our audience

    • Contribute to the station’s newsletter with updates and features

    • Attend and participate in marketing group meetings

    • Represent and promote the station at community events

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Passion for community engagement and inclusivity

    • Some experience or interest in marketing, social media, or design

    • Familiarity with Canva (or willingness to learn)

  • Volunteer Radio Presenter


    Location: In-studio with some preparation done remotely
    Hours: Approx. 2 hours per week/fortnight in-studio, plus 2 hours of preparation at home

Our mission is to serve and engage our local community by providing inclusive programming that brings people together through music, conversation, and outreach. We are committed to creating a welcoming space for everyone, including those affected by dementia, ensuring accessibility and connection for all.

    Role Overview:
    We are looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Radio Presenters to host engaging one-hour radio shows on a weekly or fortnightly basis. No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop broadcasting skills, share your passion for music, and make a real difference in the community.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Present a one-hour radio show every one or two weeks

    • Choose a selection of music around a theme (e.g., genre, era) for each show

    • Introduce each song and share interesting, dementia-friendly trivia and personal memories the songs evoke

    • Engage with the audience in an inclusive and accessible manner

    • Presenters can also choose to create shows based around sporting memories, local history, or other subjects that might elicit reminiscence

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Passion for music and community engagement

    • Enthusiasm for radio presenting (no prior experience needed)

    • Good communication skills and a warm, friendly approach

    • Willingness to learn and receive training

    • Ability to commit to regular show preparation and presentation

  • Volunteer Radio Producer


    Location: In-studio with some remote preparation
    Hours: Minimum of 2 hours per week in-studio, plus approx. 2 hours of preparation remotely or in-studio

    Role Overview:
    We are looking for an organized and creative Volunteer Radio Producer to support our presenters in delivering engaging, high-quality shows. Full training will be provided, making this a fantastic opportunity to develop production and broadcasting skills while contributing to a meaningful community initiative.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work with presenters to develop show ideas and structure

    • Collaborate with presenters to compile playlists and research relevant info/trivia around songs

    • Source and/or locate suitable audio files and load them into the system

    • Attend show recording sessions to provide support

    • Cue and play music for presenters if required

    • Assist with basic technical tasks, including adjusting sound levels and troubleshooting equipment

    • Support post-production tasks such as minor audio editing when necessary

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Interest in radio production, broadcasting, or music

    • Strong organizational and communication skills

    • Willingness to learn technical aspects of radio production (training provided)

    • Ability to work collaboratively with presenters and other volunteers

    • Enthusiasm for community engagement and dementia-friendly programming

  • Volunteer Audio Engineer


    Location: In-studio with some remote editing possible


    Hours: Minimum of 2 hours per week in-studio, with the possibility of up to 16 hours per week depending on availability. Some editing duties can be fulfilled remotely when agreed upon.

    We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Volunteer Audio Engineer to assist with the technical aspects of our radio productions. Some prior experience is required, but additional training will be provided. This is a great opportunity to develop hands-on experience in audio production while contributing to a meaningful community initiative.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Set up recording equipment, including microphones, mixer, and DAW (Ableton Live)

    • Oversee recording sessions, keeping notes of any edits that might be needed

    • Edit, mix, and export the final version of each show, ensuring high audio quality

    • Collaborate with presenters and producers to enhance sound and production quality

    • Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain audio equipment as needed

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Some experience with audio engineering, recording, or production

    • Familiarity with Ableton Live or willingness to learn

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure high-quality sound

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

    We are looking for a detail-oriented and curious Volunteer Research Assistant to help us better understand the needs and interests of the dementia community. This role involves a mix of market research—gathering insights on what the community wants from our station—and more academic-style research to support our programming and outreach efforts. Work will be a blend of remote tasks and in-the-field engagement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct market research to identify the needs and preferences of the dementia community regarding radio programming

    • Assist in more academic-style research to support content development and outreach strategies

    • Gather data through surveys, interviews, and focus groups

    • Analyze findings and present insights to the team

    • Work collaboratively with station staff and volunteers to implement research findings into programming

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Volunteer Radio Programming Assistant to help curate and manage the overall content of our broadcasts. This role involves working with our scheduling software, PlayIt Live, to upload and update our schedule, ensuring our programming remains engaging, relevant, and accessible for our audience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in curating the overall content of the broadcast schedule

    • Use PlayIt Live to upload, update, and manage scheduled programming

    • Ensure content aligns with our dementia-friendly principles and audience needs

    • Collaborate with presenters and producers to coordinate program timing and content

    • Monitor the schedule for any gaps, inconsistencies, or technical issues

    • Update the marketing team and continuity writers about any programming changes or details

    • Attend occasional in-person or virtual meetings to discuss programming strategy
